When David first started out as a committed, professional hairdresser who simply loved the beauty, talent, professionalism, and, most importantly, serving his community, he found that, what he was looking for, in terms of professionalism in the workplace, was not available in the Indianapolis salon industry. Thus, with his vision, passion, and creativity, David Lowry set out to elevate what a salon and his profession could be by starting his own business in 1994, which grew into the now renowned DL Lowry Salon, the #1 luxury salon destination in Indianapolis.
Three decades later, he can reflect on creating a salon experience and business model that is now the gold standard for salons locally and globally. Even so, that same mission remains at the heart of what he sets out to do each and every day, to dignify and strengthen his profession and renew people’s lives. Under David’s leadership, DL Lowry has served as a destination salon for thousands of clients, offering the absolute finest in cut, color, hair treatment, and beauty services. He believes in offering a customized one-of-a-kind client experience to increase confidence and transform lives through beautiful hair and skin.
David has not only made industry-changing moves throughout his career as a stylist, but he also upholds his legacy of excellence through winning not only local but nationally and internationally-acclaimed awards through his work at DL Lowry Salon. Most notably, David Lowry was the last American to have earned the “Colorist of the Year” award, where he was honored at the Davines Worldwide Hair Tour Competition in Amsterdam in 2006. David was recently invited to return to this event in Parma, Italy in June of 2022 where he will have the opportunity to meet other creative stylists as well as share trends, ideas, and projects within the framework of a forum dedicated to beauty and sustainability. This award opened many doors for DL Lowry Salon, leading to it being nationally recognized as a “Top 200 Fastest-Growing Salons in the US” and a “Salon of Distinction” by Salon Today magazine as well as a “Top 100 North American Salons” by L’Oreal Kerastase four years running, and being featured in numerous publications such as Hairdressers Journal, Modern Salon, Redbook, Beauty Salon Design Guide, Estetica USA, and Estetica Design Europe.
